Biden gave a speech on the White House South Lawn on Saturday, July 9, celebrating the recent passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first gun control measure passed into law in decades. Toward the middle of his speech, Biden mentioned the 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, that claimed the lives of 13. He also referenced the Florida shooting but misspoke and said it happened in 1918.
Someone at the White House had the good sense to add a correction to the official transcript. But, cameras memorialized the gaffe.
