I visited old Fort William once in Thunder Bay, rendezvous point for the fur trade in the late 1700’s early 1800’s and now a living history site. This was controlled at the time by the Hudson’s Bay Company which merged with the Northwest Company. I asked one of the gentlemen, who was in character how many shares he held. He turned to his business partner who was aghast, “he said SHARES,” did you here that? There were only 100 shares outstanding at the time and if you had more than one share you were very wealthy. A major rivalry existed between the companies prior to the merger BUT together they controlled a massive trade of pelts deep into the northwestern half of Canada, the nexus for trade of goods from England with the beaver pelts supplying the fashion of the day, the much in demand felted hat and massively profitable. Before the merger the Northwest Company had about 20 shares in their float. Then as now, concerns over dilution.

I get dilution concerns here but keep your eyes on the prize, this will evolve into something huge. One molecule and OHM’s long list of many indications, a subset with truly massive markets. A smaller percentage of something larger will allow you great satisfaction even if you don’t expand your holdings. Besides, there may be a free hat to go along with those coffee mugs!
