Is it feasible that ACS was telling Mark stories a

Is it feasible that ACS was telling Mark stories about deals about to close and that Mark then got excited and started touting them? Then after awhile it just became harder to continue doing that? Could it be that Mark was only repeating what someone told him? Could someone have asked him to also announce the hopes?
