I can relate to the door exercise you got. My door fun last year was installing these:

It's about a $500 job so I paid myself $200 an hour and did it myself. Even something like replacing a headlight bulb takes a youtube video and a 1/2 hour.
While Amazon is my go to place for 'stuff', there is a lot of DIY items I buy at HomeDepot, Lowes, Menards, etc. especially lately. I think the first big box store that partners with Verb will hit a home run similar to how This Old House partners with Home Depot, but missing interactivity and links.
Here's an example I was looking at a few hours ago. How much better would this page and video be with interactivity. Oh and there isn't a video for the part I care about. Just pictures. Have a video with 'Plaster Magic' if you want me to buy it and put some links in there too will yah?

I think the key would be these big box stores running affiliate marketing through Verb. You sign up, do videos, send people to a store that partners with Verb and you get paid a percent.
That same model would apply to sports, outdoors, camping, fishing, etc.
Throw a coupon in the video and people would be all over it.
