My thoughts exactly! This IMO has been BIG PHARMAS' MO for years. They are more concerned of making insane profits than helping the health of the human race. Why cure it when there is so much money to be made treating it. Cure it and NO treating ($$$) anymore.They are publicly traded companies that must answer to their stockholders on increasing company value - year after year. Just look at the financial markets. They ARE the big players in the stock market.
Businesses are now acquiring and running hospitals and incorporating business principles and procedures -- All for the intent of 'first' making money and 'secondly' helping the patient. This is no different than the regulations and decision making of the FDA, of which is made up of panel members from BIG PHARMA. WHY cure the disease when treating it brings in great revenue. Any company bucking their thought process will find it hard to progress. AGAIN -- profit first, patient care second.
