He went a little light on details of evening wining/dining/partying, with or without your significant other (It's a dreary science meeting, honey, you'd just be bored. But I need to go, to get the CME. I'll miss you). Those hangovers or slept lates are part of it, along with actual brain fatigue and information overload.
World shattering data aren't usually found in the poster presentation areas. That's why he referenced students/researchers. (Hey, nice job, looks like you may have something here. Did some get better, some so-so? Is that it?)
