The inclusion of QMC in the group of key players in the solar cell market is a bit of a curiosity. As long as I have been part of this QMC has been included as a key player in these reports. This may be the first time I’ve seen Solterra. Not sure. Or maybe they’ve just been projections of quantum dot market and this is the first directed at solar cells per se?

Anyway, the source of curiosity is the basis for inclusion as a key player. One would like to think it is based on sales, revenue and market share. You’d think these analyses would base their findings on something substantial, demonstrable, verifiable and quantifiable, preferably by third parties.

I suppose a lesser criteria would be size of research and development budget, and perhaps evidence of product inventory or products close to market? Probably the least credible criteria would be self-reported activities, such as what Steve has said and QMC reports about development of third generation solar cells.

Whatever it is you’d think that the authors of these reports would have at least done some due diligence to lend credibility to the veracity of their findings. Otherwise it is just shadows and mirrors. Hardly something to market as credible.

In any event, at a time when it is easy get depressed about the absence of information and loss of liquidity, it is comforting to see QMC still identified as relevant and an important player.
