But my point is we have devolved from a representative democracy into an administrative state. This was not the plan. We should not be 'afraid' to criticize the FDA or fear to 'upset' them because they hold the Sword of Damocles over our small corporate heads. Federal bureaucracies are supposed to work for us, not vice versa, and when they show favorable treatment to one group (BP) over another (us), that needs to be fixed. And not that state-level FDA's would not be staffed by incompetent or corrupt individuals, but if you have competition, that's at least a partial check on monolithic. all-powerful incompetence/corruption.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and example #1 is the FDA. State-level competition may be the best check we have.
