The fact Cytodyn didn't clarify things more - provide more details to better understand their results - that could have been sloppy/unintentional.

However, maybe CYDY management released these results without proper statistical context for a reason, maybe they wanted to communicate overall good results to the shareholders - while simultaneously whetting the appetite (and withholding the details) for a BP interested in a partnership?

Just an uninformed guess.
