INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita announced in a press release that 519 Hoosiers were impacted after a crowdfunding website supporting the Freedom Convoy protest in Canada was hacked.
Rokita said hackers infiltrated the website that was helping direct donations to the protest in Canada. The group has been protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other restrictions in the nation.
Information that was stolen includes donor’s names, zip codes and emails.
“Our data privacy team sprang into action and identified Hoosier victims,” Rokita said. “We are emailing them to put them on notice and advise them on steps they should take at this juncture to protect themselves — and we are standing ready to assist them further however we can.”
Anyone who believes their personal information has been compromised should file a complaint at indianaconsumer.com or call the attorney general’s office at 1-800-382-5516.
