Thanks Hawk, Abbott has clout with doctors and insurance providers. Even with that clout it has been a 10 year process for them and goodness knows how many hundreds of millions of $$$$$$ spent. The official device name includes 'St Jude Medical', so they were part of the development process. The main Clinical Trial took 3 years, 2013-2016, and involved 152 patients.
The insurance companies have a long list things that doctors must try first before they will authorize the use of the Proclaim DRG. The Proclaim DRG Stimulator runs $15-20,000 with implant surgery. The device is an elongated disk measuring 2.4" x 1.94" x .527" thick. The device is implanted in the upper buttock area.
There were 260 Adverse events relating to the Proclaim DRG in 2020. Most of the problems involved, having to reposition the device due to patient discomfort, infection, no longer relieving pain. RecoverRx, $60-$80, no surgery needed, no adverse events ever.
