Any doctor can use any approved drug off label if he or she thinks it is worth trying. But pharmaceutical companies are not allowed to promote a drug for off label use. They’ll get fined hard if they do. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Neurontin for pain is one example from my pharma days. Pfizer paid around a billion dollars in fines for that one. That’s here though. If Qilu gets rights and gets it approved in China, maybe the industry is a little more lax about that kind of stuff there. In conclusion, I wouldn’t count on off label use for revenue generation.
