Fact check: Covid didn't go away and the pandemic isn't over. There are 354 hospitals in Israel. The official verified number of those infected with COVID-19 is 318,291, as of today. 1,161 COVID patients are hospitalized in serious condition, with 288 on respirators. 355 are defined as critical, and 21 patients are connected to ECMO.
How many in the US?
A LOT. This is just the daily admissions with Covid
Is ECMO life support?
ECMO is the highest level of life support — beyond a ventilator, which pumps oxygen via a tube through the windpipe, down into the lungs. The ECMO process, in contrast, basically functions as a heart and lungs outside the body.
Yikes!
I'm not a doctor, but I'd say whatever they are treating these patients with, ain't working that well for everyone, especially the 21 on EMCO.
As more hospitals and patients in Israel receive Tollovir™, it won't take too long to find out how well it continues to work. Not being locked into a trial, they could even extend the treatment for those in the worst shape if needed I would imagine.
I've heard that compassionate use is a way to get access to experimental treatments. How does it work?

The crazy thing is, Tollovir™ isn't some wacky drug that you risk growing 3 more eyeballs. Other than dying because someone wouldn't let you try it, I would imagine the risk is low as shown by the data in Phase II
I did hear Gerald call Tollovir™, a Blockbuster...
