Hi CTMedic -- just some color about the BA.2 variant. I live in Denmark and we're very proud of our variant. It is very contagious; in the past 19 days, over 14 percent of the entire population has been infected, almost entirely with BA.2. It does seem to evade vaccination, since well over 80% of the population is completely vaccinated.
Anecdotally, I can tell you that I'm concerned that the variant also seems a little better able to avoid detection in quick tests. One friend was negative in a quicktest, then a half-hour later positive in a PCR (yes, he had it). Still anecdotally -- several friends who have had another version of Covid have come down with this one.
Deaths are not high, but they are much higher than Omicron deaths, probably largely because we have so many more cases.
Leron availability would help, of course. For the love of God, Montresor!
