I also do not understand the reference to replies from Todd somehow being reassuring - there is nothing substantive to them, and may as well be a recorded message from the cable or utility company when called to report an outage. Not only does it not take a rocket scientist to cipher (as Jethro Bodine would say) that what is happening is not pretty; in fact, one needs no formal education at all, just some common sense, to understand the unfavorable position of shareholders in these companies.
