BLAINE, WA--(Marketwire -12/15/11)- Hollund Industrial Marine, Inc. (Pinksheets: HIMR.PK - News ) ( www.HollundIndustrial.com ) today announced a strategic partnership with North Cal Wood Products, Inc. to target the fast growing global underwater logging market, a market estimated at $50 billion in undeveloped resource potential.
"We are excited to align with one of the industry's premier reclaimed wood companies," explained Mike Lacy, President of Hollund Industrial Marine. "Through the combination of Hollund's technology and North Cal's expertise and network, customers will benefit from having an integrated solution for underwater forest recovery, including resource assessment, planning, operations, management and logistics, and marketing. We believe this partnership will accelerate our plans to enter this dynamic eco-industry and offer the most innovative products to the marketplace."
"We are thrilled to be working with Hollund," said Tony Fernandez, General Manager at North Cal. "Hollund has pioneered a harvester that will forever change the way underwater forest resources will be developed in reservoirs. By teaming up with Hollund, we believe that this relationship will be the foundation for numerous commercial projects in the future."
Jointly, the companies will expand marketing of Tiger-Lynk technology worldwide to governments, utilities and reservoir impacted communities with a focus on high value projects.
Underwater logging is the process of logging trees from underwater forests. When artificial reservoirs and dams are built, large areas of forest are often inundated; although the trees die, the wood is often preserved. The trees can then be felled and brought to the surface using Hollund's Tiger-Lynk underwater tree harvester system.
