This is just in the last week
You should see a year time range
What governmental agencies would be interested in is...
1.) Frequency of posting - Is it once a month, once a week, once a day, multiple times a day?
2.) Day of the week? Weekends, weekdays, both?
3.) Time of day - Is it during market hours or after?
4.) Which stocks they are posting lies and misleading information
But this is just the tip of the iceberg
It's not illegal to post, but it is illegal to post lies and intentionally mislead others for your own gain. Whether that is to bash a stock or pump
I can post cases of prosecution and it's not pretty
What governmental agencies also would be interested in is...
1.) Looking at the posts across all social media for individuals. Yup, there are tools that do that really, really well.
2.) What do they do for a living? CFOs, Ex brokers, home invasion?
3.) Who they are connected to. Why cut one blade of grass when you can mow the whole lawn
4.) Trading accounts, tax records, bank accounts, etc
Oh, and it makes no difference to change your content tune to now start taking about charts, volume, etc. You can't change history.
The best part is there are some great tools that will take all the content of posts and will point out some very interesting things. I've used them at large corporations before and they are really good. I've done it already. The first think you spot is duplicate accounts but there is so, so much more
You already know what the first thing someone says when they are prosecuted
"Everyone was doing it"
Do you know what the second thing is?
"I was just kidding"
Well, I'm not
As investors, you are perfectly within your legal right to sue those that post lies and misinformation. They can be held liable when convicted for the lost of your investment,. Even when Verb doubles, quadruples, etc that liability doesn't go away for a lot of years. There is no do over.
Unless someone is working for a hedgefund and getting paid to spout lies, any legal judgement of substantial fines, penalties, and damages will likely send those that have done you financial harm, not only to jail, but their families to the poor house. That will be a real rotflmao when that happens.
The only thing I don't know is, what order is the SEC & FTC going in. Top down, bottom up, based on volume of lies, etc. Keep in mind their look back would be years and not days.
