After raising close to $200 million, the tragic loss of the company's CEO and only 14 months of operations, Las Vegas-based CPV manufacturer Amonix has pulled the plug. During its brief tenure, the company received a $15.6 million DOE grant and a separate $5.9 million tax credit from the Treasury Department. The company raised approx. $127 million from Kleiner Perkins Caufield as well $25 million from Goldman Sachs and MissionPoint. Dow Jones reported that Amonix also had a $9.5 million federal tax credit and a $15.6 million Department of Energy grant. On the bright side, Amonix also won a high-profile, 30-MW solar project in Colorado that was backed by a $90 million DOE loan guarantee.
