An interesting article examining methylation (epigenetic changes) in microglia, with the significant variation between a control population and a number of subjects with schizophrenia and mood disorders.
Epigenetic changes may not be directly reversible, but treatment with leronlimab or other therapies targeting microglia are nonetheless potential treatments for these disorders..
Time will tell.

“ findings from this study suggest that human microglia respond to changes in their microenvironment via transcriptional regulatory mechanisms and specifically DNA methylation alterations. Since environmental exposures contribute significantly to the risk of brain disorders, data from this study are important in furthering our understanding of the role of microglial cells in this process, and support further research towards understanding how the patterns of DNA methylation of microglia are affected by changes in environment and how this may translate to changes in microglia function”
