I've always been a conspiracy theory guy, in other words I always believed in conspiracies like Operation K or Plan Barbarossa, the Watergate or General Powell's vial in the UN and on and on. I also have no reason to doubt that daily operations of US state agencies are supposed to include conspiracies if only for the simple reason that state agencies exist to protect and strengthen the existing system of power which rests on symbiotic relation between the state and corporations (state capitalism). To put it simply, federal agencies are supposed to make sure that corporations that are "too big to fail" won't fail (like Lehman Brothers) because they are systemic. And since there is nothing in the US Constitution that would allow such a mandate for federal agencies they have no choice but conspire. US Big Pharma is a too big to fail part of the system and must be protected at any cost. Especially so in the age of the coming geopolitical upheavals. Take Gilead. This is a corporation whose very existence could be put in question if the federal gatekeeper allows LL to compete with Gilead's drugs in the "free market." But Gilead is not just another company that could be allowed to go under. Besides its "too big to fail" institutional investors, Gilead is also a part of some vital Pentagon and CIA activities like running dozens biological labs in the former USSR. This alone would make it imperative for the FDA to circle its wagons around Gilead. LL is just too good for the existing system of power whose ultimate goal has always been to protect and empower itself. Our molecule is too disruptive for this system. It is this rather than trivial "corruption" that imo presents by far the largest challenge to commercializing LL. So I agree that the FDA slow walking LL has the goal of giving BP more time to develop and test something similar. And I believe it's quite possible, even probable to achieve given their huge resources. In fact, with Nader going international, slowwalking us could be FDA's best hope.
