It is still possible that Brilacidin may work for patients at certain stages of COVID, and as Mo said, with higher doses and a longer period of treatment.
But the whole COVID thing was a detour from what we KNOW works --
we know Brilacidin works against Oral Mucositis;
and we know Brilacidin works against Ulcerative Proctitis.
We also know that the CEO has stated repeatedly that they are working on an oral formulation that would be able to get Brilacidin past the stomach into the intestinal tract, for ulcerative colitis.
We also know that the plans continue for the oral mucositis clinical trial, 1st quarter of 2022 for the next one, if I remember correctly. AlfaSigma in Italy still has the agreement on for their clinical trial for UP.
What I regret is that those research labs identified Brilacidin as having activity against COVID. If not for that, we'd have had the OM clinical trial completed and a drug on the market. This detour cost us time, but it does not mean that the uses for Brilacidin that the company was already working on are no longer valid.
Of course, if not for the concerted effort by the shorts and their associated bashers, the company would have been able to raise a lot of money and would have been able to run the COVID and OM trials at the same time.
