last deep dive and then i'm pulling myself away from this. (one other quick nugget is that, according to the article, someone from a branch of the UN was at the pig meeting.)
the last thing i wanted to look at was the source of the article. the website it's on seems like some verison of our cnn--some version of a popular news site. the article is in the business/investment pages. it is sourced to something called the "China Business News." China Business news is also quite legit, if I'm getting my research right. here's a 2009 article:

their parent company (china business network) has since been taken over by Yicai http://www.yicai.com/ a media production company: https://cn.linkedin.com/company/china-busines...ilar-pages
wikipedia says that Shanghai Media Group is the holding company for yicai:

(I'm assuming this is different than our Shanghai Yiching Culture Communication Company but who the heck knows)
Interestingly, pretty much all of these things have been deemed propaganda/state affiliated outlets by our government. they are also all really big. Before this most things circulating about Egoc/Pompeg were Pompeg press releases/promos, but this is something different.
