Also it is possible that the shorts, realizing that there was no point in continuing to try to suppress stock price, threw in the towel and covered.
There was one minute in which 100k shares were traded, and lots of other big trades around the same time. Either short covering or a buying panic -- I think it's more likely to be short covering.
