THE SHORTY REPORTY for 04Oct21 From Friday to M

From Friday to Monday EOD...
The number of short contracts pretty much stayed the same. From 302 to 300.
The number of short shares went down - from 35,596,362 to 35,355,555. Ever so small downtick with two fewer contracts....
They're still at the ceiling on shares to short - 100%...But that can change either way at any time now.
Average short contract is now 96.14 from 92.93 days. Longer term contracts are continuing to hold out and those short borrowing costs are going up.
On the Ortex site, borrowing cost doubled from last week. Monday (27Sep21) was 10.98 and Monday (4Oct21) was 25.27.
The site fintel.io is reporting that CYDY short interest is 109% and only 6000 shares available to short. (https://fintel.io/ss/us/cydy)
Short lending volume went from 695,528 to 433,981 - still a lot lower than I was expecting. The shorts are still waiting in the shadows.
Remember, the shorts only make money if the stock price drops.
Based on the age of contracts, I'm thinking the entry point range of most short contracts to be in the early-Jun to mid-Jul timeframe. CYDY was averaging about $1.75 around then.
Still looks like their next pain threshold is in the $2.70 to $2.75 price range. Maybe as low as $2.65.
And another thought crossed my mind....
I'm wondering if they think they can hold on until their "nirvana" is reached - bankruptcy. Oh...I'm not saying that it can or will happen....just what I'm think'n they're think'n.
They then get the ultimate dip in price $0.00.... AND pay NOTHING because they don't have to cover !!!
Quote:
What happens when an investor maintains a short position in a company that gets delisted and declares bankruptcy? The answer is simple—the investor never has to pay back anyone because the shares are worthless. Companies sometimes declare bankruptcy with little warning. ... However, the short seller owes nothing.

I still think we are getting down to the wire with a lethal game of chicken - shorts vs longs.
