For me it is not irritation, but rather compassion. I recognize your quality & sincerity and thus value.
What you mention as your defense, largest investment, is more similar to fear. Your best defense would be to not repeat this experience. Not getting in over you head financially, even if it is just emotional, is a good rule. My largest investment is Amazon specifically because it is reliable. I think my CYDY would only come in around #5 in cost. Neat to think that it could bring returns greater than Amazon in the short run!

I do know you have a low enough cost that you can sell some, reduce your exposure. That would be sad for you but better than losing it all. I don't know how you could rationalize the 13D as having your best interest. Their actions speak loudly.
