Elevators are used to latch on to the pipe to lift

Elevators are used to latch on to the pipe to lift it up into the derrick. The elevators are connected to the bells witch is connected to the top drive. Maybe it is not a door but it does have a latch. I know, I have had to latch them and unlatch them plenty. If there is no tongs then please tell me how they make the pipe up and break it loose. I will agree that they probably don't throw the spinner chain anymore, but it is a land rig, you never know. This is the old school drilling, not the new stuff with iron roughnecks. Don't know where you get off saying that roughnecks don't work that hard. I guess you have never done it or you are a super human. So, grab each side of you shirt in the front, pull it apart, and let us all see that big S on the front. Better yet, get back on Google and try to tell me something about my world. Go back to Idud.
