I drove in a demolition derby in 1975. 5 heats of 10 cars, top 2 in each heat got in the finals. I got 5th in a full sized 1962 Caddie in the final after qualifying in the semi. I won $100 for the local chamber of commerce that sponsored me, lol. A friend of mine in another car lost a tooth. In 1975 seatbelts were just around your waste. I managed a Woolworth store then and the Sears Store manager's driver cancel out out the day for the powderpuff division, female. He called me and asked if I'd call a girl who worked for me and ask if she'd drive the Sears car, At 8PM she was half drunk and agreed. The next day she was scared a bit, but we talked her into driving. The deal was if she qualified a man would drive in the finals. She qualified and the guy who drove her car came in 3rd, Fun times. The guy who got 3rd got $200 and gave it all to Linda, my employee, she was thrilled. The event 's admission made money for the Chamber.
