Compassionate use actual case, as related by family member:
Patient enters Hospital, admitted, placed in the ICU Covad unit, family member approaches the attending Doctor employed by Hospital ( Different Doctor every day) submits information to the Doctor on duty for requesting application for Brilacidin compassionate use, Doctor tells patient and family he will submit it to Hospital supervisor, 2 days the Hospital returns a decision, "not enough data or information available for Brilacidin compassionate use consideration" so much for right to try, huh?
(Even if the Hospital had approved the application and the application had been approved it would have had to be completed and sent to the FDA for authorization, turn around time? Anyone's guess! Lets say the application had been approved, day 3, submitted to Innovation Pharmaceuticals Inc with approval, IP turn around time 10 days) MO.
Meanwhile, back to the patient, Lung infection running rampant day 3,4, 02 down under 92 patient laboring trying to get 02, 02 continues to drop day 5 Patient goes on ventilator lungs become more congested with infection day 6, 7, day 8 patient dies.
