I’m not doubting that there is coincidence of HIV with areas of Covid. We’re the world leaders in Covid, are we the the leaders in HIV?
Viruses mutate with resultant genetic drift. Immunosuppressed patients, whatever the reason, have viral persistence, therefore mor reproduction of the virus.
However, hundreds of millions of Covid infected patients also produce untold Trillions of viral reproductions. Recall as well that there are actually treatments for HIV, so the incidence of AIDS (actual immune deficiency), the syndrome cause by AIDS.
Of the 38 million with HIV worldwide, 25 million on HART and the remaining 13 million invariably cover a spectrum of disease progression.
As a comparison, there are 18 million NEW cancer patients every year, vs 1.7 million HIV.
Covid rages around the world.
Most are unvaccinated (2% for the 1.3B in Africa as an example)
The current vaccines attenuate disease course, but don’t meaningfully reduce transmission (witness Provincetown outbreak).
