A guy moves to a small town. He goes to the bar and orders three beers.
Realizing he's gonna drink them by himself, the bartender says "Why don't I serve you them one at a time, so they're fresh?"
The guy explains why he wants three at once.
"Both my brothers are overseas. One is in the military. The other works on an oilfield in the Middle East. Every night I drink three beers. One for each of us. It makes me feel like we're together."
So, every night he has his three beers, one for each brother.
One night he comes in the bar and orders two beers. Then the next night, two beers again. Nobody wants to ask, but they all know what has happened.
One day he goes in the bar and orders two beers. The bartender asks him if he's doing alright.
"Yes," he says "this is a very friendly town. Everybody is being nice to me. Some people have given me flowers. Others cooked dinner for me".
"Yes, that's out of sympathy for what happened" says the bartender.
"What happened?" asks the guy.
"Your brother" says the bartender. "You only order two beers now. One of your brothers must have passed away".
"Both my brothers are doing great" says the guy "I just chatted to both of them this morning".
"Then why are you only ordering two beers?" asks the bartender.
"Because I've given up drinking".
