Just as a devil's advocate answer to your question, if someone fires you "for cause" you may decide that those just aren't the people you want to be working with any way, especially if you feel that the firing is unjustified and possibly put lives at risk with a trial that you felt should not go forward. Do we know if he opposed the firing? I don't think that we do. As I have said, we DO NOT have the facts in this situation.
As for more clinical trials going on now, you're really reaching there for a cause/effect.
