We have nights the ER is full, it’s not from Covid and it’s not from accident victims. It’s from the nights we have several people shot. ICU could be a different story as I only see the ER and currently have been at surgical recovery floor daily. I’ll ask but I haven’t heard of issues at the ICU here. The hospital goes on melt down GSW come in droves not from Covid. This is from personal experience in the ER.
I understand where you are coming from but all 4 hospitals in the area I work are not having issues like this. I think they are short staffed like we all are. I’ve basically lived at the hospital this past few weeks taking care of a coworker, and the hospital I’m at is not having issues getting people hospital beds.
Not in the sense that you wouldn’t get treatment you needed. Is Covid helping ? Probably not, but it’s not as dire as you can’t get an ICU bed, not from what I’m hearing from friends and family who all work at these hospitals.
Let me add this by saying is it possible we get to that point again ? My guess is yes by the fall unfortunately I think things will get bad again. I had buddies in NYC that had to help with loading the bodies on trucks. For the record I’m not against the vaccines although I like to look at both sides. By next month I should be vaccinated as I’ve spoken about this before.
However, by no means am I passing judgment on people who won’t ever get it. A lot of people have and it’s pretty sad that people would go to such lows.
