Say Hello to Lambda, America.. this is shaping up to be a perfect storm.. several variants, all highly virulent and showing signs of past immunity/vaccine escape, growing into the fall in the northern hemisphere.. by spring there will likely be two and possibly three divergent, highly adapted variants that will probably be impossible to cover by one vaccine only. Depending on the response and whether or not this finally taken with the gravity it should be, there's either a well coordinated and successful worldwide effort to stamp C19 out, or next year we'll see what a real pandemic looks like.
