I'm not sure which good people you're referring to. Dr. Rahman seemed nice, but his rambling talk about not being able to put his son to bed immediately set off warning bells, as did his resume w its job-hopping. Then he didn't deliver on his HIV BLA promises. Dr. Patterson also seemed nice, but now it seems likely that he was and is bent on either selling off his meh company for hundreds of millions (!) or else snatching the patent on Leronlimab from under his employer's noses.
Re the failures of CD 12. They've made me less optimistic too. Not about the drug, but about the FDA. I no longer believe they want the drug to save lives; I believe they want the drug to fail, so their friends and sponsors at big pharmas can line their pockets ever more fully. Let's say the Brazil trial is at least as successful as the 14-day version of CD12, with an 82% reduction in mortality over placebo/soc. What will the FDA response be, after their letter claiming that Leron has no clinical benefit? I'd like to say they will do their duty. I also hope it will be sunny this week. Both things might happen.
