Reality is
there wasn't a problem before the Roman Catholic Church tried to take over public schools....and or Catholic schools were not getting FED aid yet their parent base paid taxes...Private Schooling was a choice...still is.
At the time there was no Department of Education. There was no State run Department of Education. Requirements fell on each local school board.
Parties sued ...we got title 9 (1972) and other laws and rulings
Fight started in my school in 1969-1970 as I was forced as a Protestant to go to Catholicism classes ....our school board was controlled by Roman Catholic's...the school board also supplied other services to the Catholic school such as busing and enrichment classes without reimbursement...
Now we have cancel culture ...as what ever subject it might be...it might discriminate against some ethical or diverse group.
It's the systematic dumb down the the public school system. Now you have 10% of public school going to college and 70% of private school going to college.
