In my personal experience in getting information or material from a company is handled two ways: (1) If you seek any information regarding an ongoing investigation of an individual or company outside of the company that has the requested material, you send subpoena after verbally advising the recipient that you would like the material, but offer them some "cover" for providing it by sending the order. (2) If you are seeking evidentiary material from the target of your investigation, you apply for and execute a search warrant. When executing the search warrant, you advise the target company that simply turning over the material listed in the warrant, they can avoid a destructive search for the material. Often they provide the material.
I am amused at how the word "subpoena" has been interpreted to indicate that Cytodyn is in some way the target of an "investigation."
Example:
Bank robbery witness=subpoena
Bank robber=warrant
