"When, when, when...but then again I am getting to be an old fart..."
I have arrived at old fart. I should be traveling Europe right now, switching to the Mediterranean this fall.
Back in Reality World there's a problem. I believe there is a legitimate argument the US, the one we brag about all the time, worship its symbols, and blow shit up on its birthday, has performed among the very worst per Covid. Maybe the very worst.
We've taken a global crisis and media politicized it to a point that some people are ready to risk dying rather than wear an antifreedom mask, not thinking about who else they may drag with them, which most likely would be those they claim to love the most. I find it highly ironic that those who honor those who have greatly sacrificed for America don't have the integrity to wear a mask, get a shot, and avoid crowds. The Greatest Generation has obviously exited the American stage.
We brag about our superior technology, but trust our luck with Covid rather than our medical science. We will fight that US medical technology even though we know the more infections the greater the chance of even more dangerous variants that could do even greater damage to all things American precious. We will fight that US medical technology even though we know there are serious lingering medical affects and likely much more that we are suspicious of, currently ignorant of. Some of which may be permanent.
I guess it's possible Covid will always be with us. Those untrusted US scientists tell us about herd immunity if we follow the scientific rules of nature. But we are too smart and inconvenienced for any of that sort of thing. You know, freedom, tyranny of masks, and shit. God Bless America. Heaven knows we need it.
