And Cytodyn's long hauler does indeed have a placebo arm.
What is remarkable about Patterson is that he can jump into chaos, innovate some clinical lab tests, and then offer a coherent theory.
I have no experience in medical diagnostics, but Patterson's disruptive technological and theoretical work seems quite unusual.
Maybe Patterson is full of hot air, but I don't think so.
The worst criticism that i can make of Patterson's work is that his original claims that "Covid is a RANTES disease" have not been confirmed, or at least not that I know of.
Surely someone must have tested the Patterson's RANTES hypothesis of sever covid.
Another disruptive leap by Patterson is his peer reviewed results on his long hauler index. Again, this seems like something that someone else could test. Maybe no one else can test this because it requires simultaneous blood measurements of 14 different cytokines. Probably Patterson's kit is the only thing that can do that on one 4 milliliter blood sample. Maybe no one else trys this because not using Patterson's kit requires too much blood and perhaps too many different clinical labs.
And now I see a news report that summarizes Patterson's efforts in the Patterson/Yo trial.

The news editors who made this video have produced a remarkable document.
Patterson is on screen for less than twenty seconds speaking for perhaps a total of four sentences.
Patterson says:
Long hauler is caused by migration of cells to different parts of the body. The migrating cells have spike protein debris inside of them. When the migrating cells reach random body tissues, the immune system mounts an attack and the resulting inflammation causes long hauler symptoms.
Prescription statins reduce these effects because they prevent the migrating cells from binding to blood vessels so the migrating cells can't get into the tissues and cause inflammation.
Prescription CCR5 antagonists (Patterson is using maraviroc at the moment) prevent the migrating cells from migrating.
I suspect that there are no other scientists who believe Patterson's long hauler theory.
Patterson's long hauler theory, as expressed in this news video, is so specific and so compact that it strains credulity.
Patterson's blood test data supports his theory. He found spike protein residue inside of a specific kind of immune cell that is well known to migrate throughout all tissues in the body. I think it is also well known that the drugs Patterson is using have preciesely the effects that Patterson describes.
The news video is from a San Francisco station. Golden Gate bridge is in the background.
I think it us totally impossible that these news reporters edited this video without a great deal of personal help from Patterson. The brevity and specificity of Patterson's comments in the video is startling.
