The vaccines offer no absolute immunity from catching covid. They do alert and empower the immune system to effectively fight off serious infection leading (less) hospitalization and (less) death. A small percentage of vaccinated folks will become hospitalized and die, but far fewer than those unvaccinated. I don’t understand the issue here. Hylander, I have been vaccinated. If we both get covid, I’m less likely to end up in the hospital than you are. It doesn’t guarantee that I won’t but simply that it will be less likely. On the other hand, as an unvaccinated person you don’t possess the same energetic immune response that the vaccine has instilled in me. In fact, I might still get sick and go have coffee with you, pay for the coffee and donuts, and still give you covid. We both then have covid. We’re both momentarily equal. But that’s where our paths likely separate. I’m more likely to navigate the infection successfully. The odds for you are tilted in the other direction. Still, you and others are fully empowered not to get vaccinated if you are okay with the additional risk of hospitalization and death. That’s what the data suggest.
What’s so hard for everyone to understand?
