My previous statement, and the one you made above are not one in the same.
There is a stark difference between driving on the opposite side of the road and a sovereign government forcibly locking you down against your will. To deny the rights of potentially millions of people due to the decisions of a small sub-set of people in political power, is vastly different then say a maniac choosing to drive against traffic "just because he can".
Do you shut down the highway because some are driving down the opposite lane, or do you enact more reasonable measures to mitigate the issue?
People should be able to evaluate the risks and make a sound decision for themselves. If one were to decide to stay home/mask up/get vaccinated, it is well within their right to do so. The same should apply to those who have made the risk evaluation for Covid and decide not too. There are a plethora of public protests occurring all over the world in defiance to these lockdowns, with video proof on hand. Should their voices be dismissed because those who want lockdowns claim to have the "moral high ground"?
We've seen the detrimental effects on the economy, and the psychological impacts created in 2020. This was, again, supposed to be a 15 day event to "slow the spread' in order to alleviate hospital capacity. That quickly changed to a year plus in lockdowns, full vaccination with potential booster shots, and a return to mask wearing with additional potential lockdowns looming. Covid is becoming an endemic, and we need to learn to live with it.
Just my opinion is all.
