My broker (Schwab) has asked me to lend them some of my VERB shares. The interest rate they are offering is currently 12.5% (they get 25% from the short seller and split it with me). This raised a few questions with me, and wondering if anyone has any thoughts on:
1. Am I better off not lending, so the shorts have to find shares elsewhere and/or cover (hopefully raising share price)?
2. Am I better off lending and not worrying about short sellers hoping for a future short squeeze (hopefully significantly raising share price).
I would also note that the shares they are asking to borrow from me are negligible in the grand scheme of things (less than 100,000). However, if many of us are getting the same request, it could add up to be substantial I imagine.
I would also note that (in my opinion) these questions are merely short term issues, as once awareness, usage, and revenue begins explosive growth from the various products being rolled out, the share price will take care of itself.
