Speaking of cats...just bought another one yesterday but this time a Siamese/tabby mix. Of course separated it in a different room and also slept on the floor with it last night and will again tonight. This new boy will probably take 4 nights like this. Solid doors separate cats. As it stands now this cat will take probably 7-14 transition days. What we do is use the computer room for the transition which has a solid door and easily controlled area mostly. In about a week I will pull the aluminum door w/screening - separation materials down from the attic. The existing separation door swings into the room and I simply (as always) place the aluminum separation see through door on the same door jam as I originally made this out of .0125 = 1/8 inch 1x1 Aluminum with commercial rivets.Of course this door swings into the hallway. Since the existing cat is 10 years old we picked up this new one that is around 3 years old new babies or kittens would not be a good idea having experienced a multitude over the years. This is why the transition and me bonding with it will take more time than usual. I really believe this newbie will end up taking around 3 weeks and this 1 night on the hard floor sucks but they are our babies and I have always treated these guys as such. I do wonder how our stray is doing down at the southern boarder...oh well we can't save them all. Back to the doors...they both stay attached and do not interfere with each other both will be used depending on exposure hours to one another.
