That is the year the Supreme Court allowed corporations to act as citizens in donating to ALL elected officials at any level. Corporations have taken over the political landscape and bought and paid for the elected officials that get their campaign donations from them. They were never allowed to do this prior to 1999. The corruption started there. That’s when the voice of the people stopped being important and the voice of the CEO’s of the large corporations became the voice they listened too. Money will always dictate the agenda.
Election reform is the answer and the most important item in that is donations. Who and why and how much of a donation is appropriate for any one elected official. Make them go back to work for the people and use grass roots money from the people is what in my opinion needs to be done. Equal monies for each elected position. Donate to the position not the person. Split the money evenly among the people running. This isn’t a party issue but a election of any politician issue.
Nothing changes anymore because the people just don’t matter. The corporations have taken over the political landscape in this country. If we take off our blinders and really look deep into politics you will see why there is corruption. Maybe look at other countries and how they hold their elections and donations for ground rules. We don’t have to re-invent the wheel to have change. We need a leader that wants to change the world back to pre-1999 ways of life when politicians worked for the people. Until we find that person that can change election donations... we will always have corruption. There is no party separation in this battle for elections really. Both parties need to come clean and change the laws that allow this corruption. The problem with this is.... it cuts their own throat and they don’t want to cut off their donated money. How do you find the honest politician that wants to work for the people anymore?
Is there any wonder why we don’t get help politically? Why Leronlimab and Cytodyn are fighting a uphill battle? International trials should help. But how far does the corporations monies reach internationally? Is it the world we live in and can’t change? Will we get our likely interim results soon enough. When we do we will know just how far the corporations reach is... if we don’t get any action from them.
