In my very humble opinion, I don't personally know many politicians however, I knew Randy when he was a first year surgical resident at Emory, he was great guy then and maybe lost his way, no comment. But more importantly I had dinner with Ben Carson at my neighbor's house and lunch with MItt Romney some years back. I think based on these interactions they may be receptive, with a polite request.

Obviously Ben is an accomplished scientist.
