There's nothing technically wrong with betting that a stock you think will fall, will in fact end up falling. It's shorting said stock while aggressively lying, cheating, and stealing to scare or hurt investors into selling so that your bet can be a winning one.
The problem with this kind of article is that it's presented in a popular forum that new and less savvy investors look to for advice as they learn what the hell they're doing. They don't look down below the article and see that he's short the stock and then reconsider everything they just read.
Most people don't do the kind of due diligence that most of us do. We pour over everything while most people wait until Fidelity or Seeking Alpha alerts them to new information. I finally got my mom to stop freaking out about Seeking Alpha articles just recently and had to have talks about the lawsuits as well. Meanwhile she doesn't listen to conference calls or visit message boards. That's more normal than what we are. We are, excluding a strong handful of posters we all know the names of, extraordinary in our knowledge (and sometimes our sexual prowess #TechnicalAnalysis #HumbleBrag).
That's why the mods should be deleting just about anything that comes out of the mouths of the unnamed here. Instant deletes. Should we be so lucky that someone new stumbles upon our little corner of the web, the last thing we want is for them to be seeing our versions of Out of Ignorance. There's already too much of that going on elsewhere.
Sincerely,
