Sanofi's takeover of Genzyme Corp. was to broaden its product offering/pipeline. They paid $20 Billion...that was ten years ago. Only weak companies in turmoil... face Hostile takeovers.
A repudiation to a hostile takeover can come in the form of many devices/techniques in response/defense. Stock repurchase, poison pill approach, shark repellant, golden parachutes (maybe in play) standstill agreement (not bloody likely), leveraged recapitalization (maybe in play...although not large enough). A tender offer and a proxy fight targeting shareholders...or fighting to replace current management.
SO there you have it!..what's your poison?...
I have NO doubt...we are in someone's gunsights and we are an intended target...be careful about... what you wish...there are floors that can vanish beneath your feet.
