I live in Brooklyn Center for many years, moved there in 1979, moved 11 years ago10 miles SW of there.. When I moved there it was a nice clean suburb of Minneapolis. But it was aging. A nearby older suburb had it's school system decimated because of of aging of families and kids moving out and parents living alone.
So, Brooklyn Center decided to be "Smart" and they had many apartment buildings built so that young couplie would move in and have kids. Well, not a bad idea until the Welfare system was expanded in the mid 80's. Then Minnesota was giving higher welfare benefits than Illinois and Michigan. So inter city Chicago and Detroit welfare people moved to Minnesota. The called Minneapolis, "Moneyapolis".
Today the Brooklyn Center police station and the Walmart- T Mobil shopping areas are surrounded by huge apartment complexes. Much of Brooklyn Center is still relatively nice All Democrat Party social plans have failed, all of them.
Now you know, "The Rest of The Story"
