My buddy Vinnie works in the shipping department for the company that makes the Cytodyn coffee mugs. He was telling me that there was a mandatory 3rd shift added today. Everyone had to sign an NDA as well. Best I can tell there's been a huge order placed and it's "all hands on deck" until it's completed. He tells me they're supposed to be done by Wednesday afternoon. Don't worry about Vinnie for talking. He's union. They literally can't fire him.
Anyways, take that for what it's worth but I'm never wrong.
Someone. Wants. Mugs.
The bigger question is who?
Follow along and it will all make sense.
Back when I was a sophomore in high school my dad told me that I needed to work a factory job that summer. His reasoning was that I'd hate it and realize that going to college and doing a good job would help me avoid a hard life on third shift. He leaned on a friend to get me a job at a heat treat factory that dealt in springs and whatnot.
The first day I sat in a dirty chair in front of a soot-laden fan, separating sprockets into stacks of five while sweating like a boxer desperately trying to make weight.
Over and over.
And I needed that disgusting fan because half the plant was made up of massive ovens heat treating the springs and sprockets.
The second day I was standing a few feet in front of one of the ovens, feeding parts in and making sure they weren't touching each other. It was after the second day that I decided to quit. I didn't just quit though. I went to the local Manpower office and told them I wanted to find a factory job. A questionnaire led to a quick discussion and within a half hour or so I had a job at another factory that wasn't 125 degrees inside. This place made camshafts and I would tap or lathe shafts (heh, he said shafts) for the rest of the summer to keep the spirit of my old man's challenge.
It wasn't bad.
At one point in the summer we were all called up to the second floor where the offices and important people resided. Inside a huge conference room they announced some deal with Cummins and then the reps from Cummins handed out hats, shirts, and other random swag to celebrate. It was the launch of a new partnership.
So I can't help but think we've got ourselves an announcement on the horizon. Thus the mugs. Double thus the rescheduling
You just don't reschedule something like this unless it's for something more important. Now, we could come up with a lot of things that could be deemed more important and not all of them lead to immediate revenue or approval. But read these options and think about whether any of them pass the Cummins test...
