In a few hours we could see record margin calls throughout the entire investment bank industry...no sh!t.
Nobody can predict market conditions at any specific time; except when it’s marked on your calendar as shorts get called day. The SLR exemption expiring 3-31 is potentially the biggest retail market day ever. I don’t know if margin calls come today or tomorrow or....if there’s a grace period to liquidate voluntary.
The exemption was a great idea in a perfect market that isn’t infested with white collar criminals like Archegos Wild Bill. Correct pronouncement of Archegos is ‘Arch-Egos’ ...Bill got religious when banned for 5 years then came up with rebranding of his failed Tiger Fund to Archegos. The English word archangel is derived from the Greek ??????e??? (arch- + angel, literally "chief angel" or "angel of origin"
. So literally Archegos is the chief ego. Just my opinion but ‘wild’ Bill was made an example and if you missed it well your ego might be draining your IQ.
