Companies I've been at will tell employees not to buy/sell their company stock for a window each quarter around earnings.
If you do, it's grounds for termination. It could be accidental or intentional, but you can get terminated and people do as a google search will show you a lot.
red, what do you mean 'accidental'?
Usually an email will go out every quarter reminding employees, consultants, etc of the policy and the time period. I can tell you there are people that only read a percentage of their emails so easily could miss it. I can also tell you, I've never read one of these emails, because I don't buy/sell stock at companies that I work for other than options and grants. I do read the subject line and go, oh yeah but has no bearing on me. Tomorrow I'll look up one as I am curious now what is says and how long that window is.
The interesting thing as Matz has pointed out is this went from OMG, Chad and Jeff are money laundering and inside trading to, I guess someone violated company policy on trading. That is a BIG difference and the difference of losing a job to being fined or jailed.
Now the question is...
Why the sudden switch of claims?
Why was the post deleted?
Did someone PM him and say he could get sued bigly?
Keep in mind the same set of IDs that have been sequentially created have been saying the same 'money laundry' thing for years
It's the shtick that 'they' think 'they' can get away with, without posting any proof. As I mentioned, anonymous posters can and do get sued, and lose, for posting lies that are meant to intentionally hurt the company or influence the stock price.
The 'video' likely will never be posting online for one simple reason. If I said what that reason was, it would guarantee it would never be made public, but let's see what happens.
Couple of other things to consider
The same series of IDs have had a chubbie for Chad and Jeff for years. People get fired, development teams get let go but every once in a while you get 'that guy" that decides he's going to do a scorched earth media campaign to 'get even'.
Not only does it end up consuming their life but ensures a more difficult time of finding another job. Most employers do background checks and do find all your social media posts. As I mentioned, if they don't, usually someone will tip them off after someone gets hired. Sometines it's even and insider in your club
Also consider the setup of this. The initial false claims and how this is going to rock the stock. It's a bunch of BS that is right up there with the other 'stunt'. You know, if I shared this then blah, blah, blah. Had he posted it to begin with, he knows he would have been laughed off the board right away for creating a pile o video crap. Like this one, the story quickly changed.
So people don't like the company. Boohoo
People don't like Rory, Jeff, Chad and probably a whole lot more. Boohoo
There is something I learned in the last day that 'they' didn't realize they were giving away, but a story for another board, another day. Something very useful. Maybe I should make a video explaining it and post it?
In summary, people get fired everyday for a lot of reasons as a company policy is filled with rules. Harassments, porn, insider trading, etc. Sh-t happens and it's not good, but Microsoft, Amazon and Google managed to pull through some how some way.
I've seen CEOs canned from some of the largest brands and the stock actually went up. Usually it's viewed as a good thing to get rid of bad apples, but 'the crew' will overblow anything, at every opportunity, they get.
Remember years ago, they even had issues with Rory's shoes?
Probably really sucks for some not being able to get a real job besides posting on a message board for a living. There is so much hate. What a way to live out ones remaining years on Earth.
